Here is the story behind Dahu.

If you spend enough time in the Alps, you get used to the "alpine start." Waking up at 3 a.m., strapping on crampons in the dark, and pushing your body through the freezing cold for hours.

As mountain guides based in the Haute-Savoie, this is our office. We love the technical challenge. We live for the "type-two fun" of a long, difficult route on the Mont Blanc massif.

But for years, we noticed something missing in the outdoor world.

The Missing Ingredient

The outdoor industry is obsessed with the summit. It’s all about lighter gear, faster times, and more suffering. The branding is serious, intense, and often a bit joyless.

But if you ask any local in Chamonix, Courmayeur, or Zermatt what the best part of a big mountain day is, they won't say the summit.

They'll say it's that golden hour when you get back down to the valley. When the heavy boots come off, the sun hits the terrace, and a cold Aperol Spritz or a steaming plate of pasta arrives on the table.

We realized that the culture of the Alps isn't just about the sport. It's about the lifestyle that surrounds it. The unique blend of French, Italian, and Swiss gastronomy that waits for you at the end of the trail.

We wanted a brand that celebrated that part of the day.

Enter the Dahu

We decided to create Dahu to fill that gap. We call it the "Aprés-Ascent."

We wanted apparel that was born in the mountains but built for the bar. Gear that respects the effort it took to get up the hill, but celebrates the reward at the bottom.

Why the name Dahu? It’s named after the legendary mountain goat of Tri-Border folklore—a creature evolved with shorter legs on one side to walk on steep slopes. Like us, it’s a creature perfectly adapted to the alpine environment, but perhaps a little awkward on flat ground. It’s an insider nod to the myths and culture of the valleys we call home.

Built By Guides, Made For Everyone

We take the mountains seriously, which is why our gear had to be sustainable. Every Dahu tee and hoodie is made from organic cotton in renewable-energy powered factories, and designed to be part of the circular economy.

But we don’t take ourselves too seriously. That’s why you’ll find designs featuring ice climbers scaling Spritz glasses and refuges sitting on pizza slices.

If you believe that an ice axe and a Moka pot are equally important pieces of mountain equipment, then welcome to Dahu.

See you on the terrace.

From the summit to the Spritz.
